Returned checks in April reach 18.7 thousand, worth JD130mln
The number of checks circulated in Jordan during the first third of 2024 reached 2.1 million checks, with a value of JD13.01 billion, according to the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC).
A statistics collected by the JoPACC showed that the number of returned checks in Jordan increased by 3.3% during April, compared to March, as it reached 18.7 thousand checks in April, compared to 18.1 thousand in March, according to Al-Mamlaka.
The value of returned checks in April 2024 amounted to JD130 million, compared to JD131 million in March of the same year, a decrease of 1.1%.
12,677 returned checks worth JD98.7 million in April were for financial reasons, while more than 6,000 checks worth JD31.4 million were for technical reasons, as the percentage of checks returned for financial reasons reached 67.8% compared to 32.2% for technical reasons, the statistics added.
Last April, the number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 525 thousand checks, compared to 514 thousand checks in the previous March, an increase of 2.2%.
The value of checks in circulation during the month of April amounted to JD3.36 billion, compared to JD3.06 billion in March, an increase of 9.9%.
