The number of checks in circulation in Jordan during the first quarter of 2024, reached 1.6 million checks, with a value of JD9.7 billion, according to what was monitored by the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC).
The number of returned checks in Jordan increased by 0.3% during March, compared to the previous month, as it reached 18.1 thousand checks last month, compared to 18 thousand checks in February, according to statistics collected by JoPACC and reported by Al-Mamlaka.
The value of returned checks for the month of March of the current year amounted to JD131 million, compared to JD125 million in February of the same year, an increase of 5.2%.
The statistics added that 12,559 returned checks worth JD93 million in March were for financial reasons, while more than 5.5 thousand checks worth JD38.5 million were for technical reasons, as the percentage of checks returned for financial reasons reached 69.4% compared to 30.6% for technical reasons.
During last March, the number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 514 thousand checks, compared to 523 thousand checks in the previous February, a decrease of 1.7%.
