FAO Regional Conference for Near East kicks off on Monday in Amman
The 37th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Regional Conference for the Near East and North Africa (NENA) will kick off in Amman on Monday and Tuesday, which is witnessing large international participation.
Ministers and leaders from across the region will participate in the conference to develop a framework for a regional agreement on the future and joint work to achieve targeted, sustainable agricultural food systems and to ensure food security for millions of people in the region.
On its first day, the conference will discuss several issues through round tables, including enabling comprehensive and sustainable rural transformation in the Near East and North Africa, accelerating the shift towards markets, trade and sustainable consumption, in addition to the shift towards efficient agricultural food systems that are resilient to climate change, it also witnesses the launch of the 'Hand in Hand Investment Forum.'
As the second day of the conference witnesses; Important issues include 'proactive action to address the effects of worsening crises, drivers of future visions and incentives relevant to the Near East and North Africa region, science, innovation and digitalization to accelerate the transformation process in agri-food systems, in addition to discussing the transformation of agri-food systems in small island developing states (SIDS), least developed countries (LDCs) and landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).
It also testifies; Reviewing pioneering initiatives of the FAO and the Hand in Hand Investment Forum on its second day.
The Regional Conference concludes its work by adopting the Ministerial Declaration, adopting the Regional Conference Report, and determining the date and location of the 83th session of the Regional Conference for the Near East.
