UN Security Council to meet Wednesday after ICJ issues Gaza ruling
The UN Security Council will meet next Tuesday over the decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) calling for Israel to prevent “genocide” in the occupied Gaza Strip.
The meeting on Wednesday was called for by Algeria, the only Arab member of the UN Security Council.
The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, confirmed on Friday night that he would refer the notification of the temporary measures ordered by the ICJ regarding Gaza to the UN Security Council.
The Council is scheduled to vote on a draft resolution that will later be distributed to members on how to implement the court order.
