Israeli occupation threatens Jordan not to extend water agreement
The Hebrew channel kann said on Thursday that Israel is considering not extending the current water agreement with Jordan following anti-Israeli statements regarding the war on Gaza by senior Jordanian officials and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi.
According to the current agreement, Israel transfers to Jordan 100 million cubic meters of water each year - instead of 50 million, as stipulated in the original peace agreement, in exchange for the production of electricity in Jordan for Israel.
Kann also reported that the Ministry of Energy in the occupation has not taken the final decision in this regard yet, and the matter depends on the development of relations with Jordan and how the Jordanians will express their position toward the war in the near future. If the agreement is not extended, it will expire this year.
