Jordan ranks 9th globally as best growing destination in terms of visitor numbers

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) announced that Jordan achieved 9th place in the ranking of best-growing tourist destinations during the first seven months of 2023, with a growth rate of 23% compared to the number of visitors for the same period in 2019.

The Middle East region, which has many exceptional tourist destinations, has achieved best results globally in the growth of visitor numbers, exceeding pre-pandemic levels in 2019 by 20%, according to UNWTO's report.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a press statement that this achievement comes as a result of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and His Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to the government towards paying attention to the tourism sector as it is one of the most important engines of economic growth.

The number of visitors to the Kingdom has achieved a remarkable increase and unprecedented levels compared to the same period in previous years, as the number of visitors in the first eight months of the current year 2023 reached about 4,503,537 visitors, an increase of 41.9% compared to the same period in 2022, the ministry added in the report.
