World Bank: Food prices in Jordan rise by 0.6% by end July
Food prices in Jordan rose by 0.6% by the end of last July, at a time when domestic food price inflation remains 'high' around the world, according to a monthly report by the World Bank.
Recently issued report showed that food prices in Jordan fell by 1% at the end of June and 1.9% at the end of May, after rising by 0.8% last April.
The rise in food prices in Jordan in April is slight and lower than the rates they reached last year, despite their rise in February and March by 0.7% and 1% respectively, whereas the rate was 5.8% in May last year, according to a previous bulletin issued in August.
In its monthly report on the general consumer price index (inflation) for last August, the Department of Statistics (DoS) recorded an increase of 0.88% (less than one percentage point) compared to the corresponding month of 2022, and a slight increase of 0.20% compared to the previous month from the same year.
On the cumulative level, the index for the first eight months of this year witnessed an increase of 2.45% compared to the same period in 2022.
