The data indicated a growth of 49 percent in tourism income during March 2023, topping JD435.8 million ($614.7 million) compared to the same month last year.
The revenue spike was due to an unparalleled surge in tourist arrivals during the opening quarter of 2023, with 1.476 million sightseers flocking to the Kingdom, marking a major 90.7 percent upswing from the prior year's 774,111 vacationers.
In March 2023, Jordanians' expenditure on tourism amounted to JD99.2 million ($139.9 million), up by 26.2 percent compared to the same month of 2022, the figures showed. Jordanian expatriates' expenditure accounted for 83.5 percent of total tourism abroad spending.
