Madaba sees 300-pct increase in tourist numbers in past 2 months
A total of 96,286 tourists visited Madaba governorate in the first two months of 2023, compared to 20,423 in the same period last year, up by 300 percent.
In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Madaba Tourism Director Wael Janineh said the majority of visitors were from the United States, Italy, France, Spain, and South Korea.
He noted that tourist-graded businesses in Madaba increased to 113, including 20 hotels, 30 restaurants, 27 workshops, 31 stores, 5 travel agencies, and 569 hotel rooms that can accommodate 1,135 people.
He said the Madaba Tourism Directorate is mulling a plan to organize tourist-attractive events and rehabilitate public facilities.
