Amman Chamber of Industry exports at JD1.2bln in Jan-Feb 2023
Exports by factories registered with the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) picked up by 20 percent in January and February of 2023 to a total of JD1.2 billion against JD1.05 billion in the same period of 2022.
According to data that the Jordan News Agency (Petra) obtained Tuesday, exports of the ten industrial sectors grew in January and February of 2023 by a rate ranging between 6 and 28 percent, most of which went to India with JD238 million worth of exports, followed by the United States with JD195 million, Iraq with JD137 million and Saudi Arabia with JD120 million.
The chamber's exports from the mining industries reached JD461 million; followed by chemical and cosmetics with JD245 million; engineering, electrical and information technology with JD165 million; the catering, food, agricultural and livestock sectors with JD138 million, therapeutic and medical supplies with JD77 million; the leather and textiles with JD69 million; the packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies industries with JD54 million; the plastic and rubber with JD44 million; construction with JD17 million and the wood and furniture with JD3 million.
Established in 1962, the Amman Chamber of Industry has 8,600 industrial establishments as members, which employ about 159,000 workers with a capital of about JD5 billion.
