House Speaker calls on strengthening Jordan's ties with Algeria, Iraq
Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi called on building on outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah II's summit with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune a month ago, and Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership that was recently held at the Dead Sea.
Safadi's remarks came at meetings held separately with Algerian Ambassador, Mohamed Sherif Kourta , and Chargé d'Affairs of Iraqi Embassy in Amman, Munif Ali Hussein.
During talks with Algerian envoy, Safadi stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of the recent King's summit with Algerian president about a month ago.
Safadi also called on strengthening joint cooperation, especially in the pharmaceutical industry fields and increasing trade exchange and expanding its activities to cover energy, medical and hotel tourism, transportation, aviation, culture and higher education fields.
Meeting with Chargé d'Affaires of Iraqi Embassy, Safadi affirmed Jordan's keenness under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership to support Iraq in a bid to enhance its security and stability and continue its political process aimed to meet Iraqi people's aspirations and interests.
Safadi stressed the importance of outcomes of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which was recently hosted by Jordan at the Dead Sea, to support Iraq's efforts to achieve comprehensive development, build economic integration and cooperate in multiple sectors, mainly in fields related to energy, water, electrical interconnection, food and health security, transportation, infrastructure projects and climate protection.
Parliaments have a responsibility to overcome legislative obstacles to tripartite cooperation projects between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, Safadi pointed out.
Safadi said he is scheduled soon to visit Iraq at the invitation of Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad Halbousi to enhance prospects for joint parliamentary cooperation and coordination.
