The Chairperson of the Jordanian National Forum for Women (JNFW), Princess Basma bint Talal, talked about the 'important' role of the JNFW and its promotion of the political and democratic empowerment of women.
During a meeting Saturday at the Queen Zein Al Sharaf Institute for Development (ZENID), Princess Basma urged JNFW Supreme Council members to invest in the legislative and political environment in Jordan to enhance women's political participation and presence in parliamentary, municipal and local councils elections and partisan work, according to a statement.
She noted that the plans for women's political empowerment constitute a 'great and appropriate' opportunity for Jordanian women to increase their presence in decision-making positions, highlighting the importance of the role of the Higher Council of the JNFW in building on national plans and translating them into action programmes.
