Jordan ranks 1st in renewable energy contribution in Arab world
Jordan ranked first in the Arab world in terms of the rate of renewable energy contribution (without counting hydropower), reflecting Jordan's leadership in the renewable energy field in 2021 at the regional level, according to the 2022 Arab Future Energy Index (AFEX).
Jordan's rank was announced during the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' recent participation in a dialogue session on achievements of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Jordan and future plans within the activities of the COP27 held in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The session was held in conjunction with the launch of the AFEX 2022 report, developed by the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. The report highlights the status of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the Arab countries and their ranking in terms of achievements.
During the session, Director of the Ministry's Renewable Energy Directorate, Yacoub Marar, showcased achievements of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Jordan and future plans.
