Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB) participated in the activities of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) being held in Sharm El-Sheikh, during which international community is discussing climate change issues and mechanisms to move towards more efficient and sustainable economies.
The CVDB works to support efforts to transition to a green economy, especially in municipalities, by providing banking and financial services, technical and environmental support, and assistance for sustainability and equal opportunities.
In a statement to 'Petra' on Saturday, CVDB Director-General , Osama Azzam, said this participation coincides with the bank's plan aimed to obtain accreditation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to become the first approved window in the region to obtain financing for national projects related to climate change.
CVDB implemented several projects, using digital governance, aimed to become a paperless bank, he noted.
CVDB delegation attended funding activities due to their pivotal importance and link to the bank's work. Multiple topics were also discussed, primarily including innovative and mixed finance, financial instruments, tools and policies that enhance access to funding and exchanging debts with environmental projects, the bank said in a statement.
