In a statement today, the embassy stated: 'Shocked at news of the death of Shireen Abu Aqleh, veteran Palestinian Al Jazeera journalist. Shireen was shot during an Israeli operation in Jenin refugee camp this morning. Media freedom and safety of journalists are essential and must be respected'.
Shireen Abu Akleh was shot dead early Wednesday by Israeli army in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry announced.
