About 2,137 students have completed a Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) flagship training program designed to help university students learn about the core principles of democracy, citizenship, human rights and civic responsibility.
In a statement Thursday, the CPF said that the 'Ana Usharek' (I Participate) graduates, who completed the course at the end of the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, received extensive training and education on issues pertaining to elections, media, political parties, integrity and transparency in local governance, gender, tolerance and social peace.
The program is carried out through a joint agreement between the CPF and the National Democratic Institute and is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Since its inception in 2011, the program has welcomed around 45,000 participants at 24 universities, according to the CPF statement.
It is also designed to enhance youth participation in the political process, by qualifying them and providing them with the knowledge necessary to engage in the decision-making process and develop their sense of citizenship. It also seeks to develop leadership and advocacy skills among the youths.
The students came from 13 universities: Al Hussein Technical University, Jadara University, the Jordan University of Science and Technology, the German Jordanian University, Al-Balqa Applied University and its Karak branch, the Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, the University of Jordan, the Hashemite University, the Zarqa University, Mu'tah University and Yarmouk University.
