Irbid industrial exports stand $81m last October-ICI
The value of Irbid's exports to foreign markets during last October recorded an increase of 29.2%, compared with same month 2020.
The total value of the certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) for October 2021 amounted to about $81 million, compared to the same month 2020, which amounted to $62.7 million.
Al Hassan Industrial Estate's exports ranked first, with a value of $76 million, followed by Cyber City's exported products by $3 million, while the remaining exports came from other industrial zones in the northern governorate, according to an ICI statement.
The textile and leather sector maintained a leading position in the sector-based exports, with a value of $72.6 million, followed by the foodstuffs products by $2.6 million, the medical industries sector by $1.5 million, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the engineering and electrical industries generated a sum of $1.3 million, and the construction industries' revenues hit $1.2 million, while the rest of the exports went to packaging sectors, the statement added.
ICI Chairman, Hani Abu Hassan, said US market was the biggest importer, nearly accounting for 75% of Irbid's exports, while Arab countries' imports nearly stood at 7% of overall exports.
