The Consumer Prince Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, edged up by 1.09 percent until August of 2021, reaching 102.14 points against 101.04 points in the same period of last year, according to official figures released Monday, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.
In its monthly report, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said that the CPI for August of this year stood at 102.68 points, up by 2.01 percent from 100.66 points recorded for the same month last year.
Comparing August to July of this year, the DoS stated that the CPI for August inched up by 0.22 to reach 102.68 points compared to 102.45 points in July, according to Petra.
The basic CPI for August, measured by excluding the most price-volatile commodities and services, including foodstuffs, fuel and lighting, and transportation, stood at 68.96 points up by 0.61 percent from 68.54 points recorded for the same month last year, according to the data.
Meanwhile, the CPI for the January-August period of 2021 reached 68.99, an increase of 0.92 percent from the 68.36 points recorded for the same period of last year.
