Summer like weather today, warm spell to last during weekend

An updated weather forecast on Thursday said the Kingdom will boast 'summerlike' weather conditions in the highlands and the plains, while sustained sunny spells will prevail in the Badia region, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

As reported by the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), the latest weather predictions have triggered the need to warn against direct exposure to sunlight at noon, and of low-visibility due to fog formation in mountainous areas at dawn.

During the weekend, the weather department suggested the potential of a two-day heatwave with warmer than average temperatures, bringing relatively hot weather nationwide, except for the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be scorching with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.

The temperatures in Amman today will see a high of 32 degrees Celsius during the day and a low of 19C at night, while in the Badia, temperatures are expected to range between 36C and 20C. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 40C and a low of 27C.
