Labor Minister, Yousef Shamali, said the government has provided 'unprecedented' facilitations to employers in various sectors and economic activities, to rectify conditions of violating non-Jordanian workers.
In a press statement on Saturday, he said the Cabinet measures, which allowed legalizing and settling conditions of violating non-Jordanian workers in the labor market by a decision, have entered into force on last July 4th and runs to September 2th.
Shamali noted the Cabinet’s decision came to alleviate financial burdens imposed on employers and motivate them to settle conditions of the violating workers who did not issue or renew their work permits during the previous period, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Cabinet decision offered many facilitations, including exemptions from fines and fees for previous permits for workers of different nationalities, in addition to exemptions from fines due to the delay in renewing the annual residence permit, according to the minister.
The decision also allowed workers to move to work across many sectors and economic activities, he said, adding that the ministry also issued subsequent measures aimed at simplifying procedures and speeding up completion of employers’ transactions.
On mechanism for deporting violating non-Jordanian workers who did not rectify their conditions, he said the ministry will launch a comprehensive campaign countrywide on all sectors and economic activities to monitor violating workers in coordination with the concerned authorities, noting deportation is taken within 3 months or more since expiry of work permit.
