The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has announced it had paid off local bonds with a total value of JD513 million on July, pumping liquidity into the local market and bringing the net local borrowing to JD338 million.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said that the aforementioned measure came in implementation of a governmental strategy to ease pressure on local liquidity and branch out the available sources of financing for the economy.
'Paying off the local bonds minimized the net borrowing during the first seven months of 2021 to JD638 million, compared to JD 1.461 billion in the same period of last year,' the statement added.
Meanwhile, the ministry indicated that Jordan's public debt reached JD27.259 billion at the end of June, indicating a drop of JD54 million.
