Scorching heat wave raises electric load to 3,210 MW
The blazing heat wave that is currently sweeping most parts of the Kingdom pushed the electric load on Wednesday evening to 3,210 megawatts (MW), compared to the morning load of 3,100 MW, according to data released on Thursday by the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).
The data showed that the maximum power load registered in 2020 was 3,630 MW, increasing by 7.4 percent compared to a high of 3,380 MW recorded in 2019.
The NEPCO expected that the load will continue to rise during the current summer to reach around 3,700 MW, stressing the company's ability to meet the growth in end-use electrical consumption and to deal with any exceptional circumstances.
