The Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) on Monday has appointed Secretary-General of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission, Muhammad al-Taani, as its representative and head of its committee in Jordan.
In a statement on Monday, al-Taani said 'my appointment as a representative of the organization comes due to the great and distinguished role Jordan plays in facilitating the electrical connection between Arab countries, the Middle East and Europe.'
He added that Jordan is one of the leading countries in the region in implementing the renewable energy agenda, stressing the Kingdom's interest in climate change and work to establish the infrastructure for a sustainable future in cooperation with the global program and international institutions.
The China-based organization is a non-governmental international organization which works towards promoting the establishment of a global energy interconnection system (GEI) to meet the global demand for electricity in a clean and green way, as well as to implement the United Nations Sustainable Energy for All initiative.
