Tourism ministry shuts down 12 restaurants for flouting anti-Covid-19 measures
During June, the inspection teams of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the concerned authorities inspected 1,646 tourist facilities, and shut down 12 restaurants and hotels for failing to adhere to preventive public health and safety measures.
The ministry, in a press statement on Thursday, said it had issued official warnings to 33 tourist businesses, and notified 143 others, adding that 1164 tourist establishments committed to anti-Covid-19 public health measures.
In its recent campaign, the ministry noted the joint gov't teams intensified their inspection tours on tourist businesses countrywide, with focus on hookah shops.
The ministry also reiterated its call to tourist establishments to abide by the instructions issued by defense orders, which stipulate maintaining physical distancing, wearing masks, and providing hookah service in the outer squares.
