Amman's Public Prosecution office has begun investigation into an assault on a Jordanian citizen in an Arab country, after video clips were circulated on social media platforms, showing the incident.
Amman's Attorney General, Hassan Al-Abdallat, verified as true the authenticity of the assault incident footage, said a judicial source at Jordan's Judicial Council (JJC) to 'Petra' on Thursday.
Amman Public Prosecutor's office made contact and coordination with JJC's International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Anti-Cybercrime Unit, that verified authenticity of the video clip and identified identity of the Jordanian citizenship, added the source.
Public Prosecutor in charge of international cooperation affairs had opened a probe into the assault incident, and made a request for 'quick' judicial assistance, through diplomatic channels, to the judicial authorities in an Arab country asking 'urgent and necessary' protection measures for the assualted Jordanian citizen, according to the source.
The request also asks competent authorities in the Arab country, where the incident took place, to send investigation outcomes to the Jordanian judiciary to take the legal action according to the rules, the source pointed out.
