The Lower House of Parliament's Committee on Energy has set up a fact-finding committee of experts to investigate and determine the cause of a several-hour countrywide power blackout 10 days ago.
Chairman of the committee Zaid Otoum said the panel will report directly to the legislature, noting that the government has already hired an Italian power company to probe the incident that occurred on May 21st. The Jerash lawmaker said the committee will address concerned authorities to provide the experts with all documentation and information needed for the probe.
He added that the panel will have to try to answer three main questions: Why the outage occurred? the swiftness of the response and what is needed to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future?
