His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday expressed appreciation of the private sector’s role in supporting the local community through corporate social responsibility programmes, commending the sector’s continuous cooperation with other institutions and its contributions to empowering youth and women.
During a meeting with representatives of the private sector at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the private and the public sectors to generate new economic opportunities and draw up a roadmap for the next two years, in order to reach solutions to ongoing dilemmas and overcome obstacles.
His Majesty noted the need to build on available opportunities and move forward in administrative reform.
For their part, the attendees highlighted the availability of various opportunities in their sectors, which can be capitalised on to attract investments in telecom, mining, transport, pharmaceuticals, and energy.
They expressed their keenness to continue cooperating with the public sector to implement projects in priority sectors, and to qualify young people to take on future jobs. They also highlighted the need to institutionalise corporate social responsibility programmes and to provide incentives to the private sector to ensure the sustainability of development programmes.
