A Border Guard officer was injured while engaging in thwarting an infiltration attempt on an Eastern Military Zone front by a group of people from Syria.

The rules of engagement were applied, a Border Guard officer was injured, and evacuated to the King Hussein Medical City in Amman, where his condition was listed as 'stable', according to a military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army.

The source added that one of the infiltrators was killed, and the rest retreated into Syria.

The source indicated that, after searching the area, large quantities of hashish and other narcotic materials were seized and were transferred to the competent authorities.

The source underlined that the JAF will deal firmly and decisively with any infiltration or smuggling attempt to protect the borders and prevent those who try to tamper with the Jordanian national security.
