The new infections comprised 3,196 cases in the capital, Amman, 1317 in Irbid, including 246 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 511 in Balqa, 362 in Karak, 310 in Zarqa, 259 in Aqaba, 221 in Madaba, 205 in Mafraq, 176 in Ajloun, 159 in Tafileh, and 126 in Ma'an , including 40 in Petra region.
The ministry's statement added that there are currently 97,255 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
The number of hospitalizations today stood at 408, while 342 patients have recovered and discharged, the statement noted.
According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 9,417, bringing the total to 485,507 since the outbreak began.
Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 3,431.
The statement also indicated that occupancy of the total ICU bed capacity has hit 69%, 81%, and 41% in the northern, central and southern regions, respectively.
With regard to testing, 43,615 tests were conducted Sunday, 16.47 percent of which were positive compared to 15.74 percent.
Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 5,776,686, the joint statement noted.
