JMC says ready to handle inbound ships when Suez Canal reopens
The Jordan Maritime Commission (JMC) on Sunday said it has raised the 'state of alert at Aqaba ports, in cooperation with relevant authorities, to preserve maritime safety if the stranded container ship in the Suez Canal is refloated'.
In a statement, JMC director-general Muhammad Salman said that the commission, in coordination with stakeholders in public and private sectors, has put in place an integrated plan to organize the docking of more than 13 ships as soon as the vital waterway is reopened.
Salman also stressed that Aqaba ports are highly prepared to deal with any potential circumstances.
