Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Maha Ali, said the stability of prices of food commodities must be maintained and not to be exaggerated, especially before and during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking to meetings with representatives and relative stakeholders of commercial, industrial and food supplies sectors, urged these sectors to provide adequate quantities of food commodities before and during Ramadan at reasonable prices.
The meetings discussed available means to reduce prices of the vegetable oil without fully reflecting global rise in prices on the local market, according to a ministry statement issued on Saturday.
Jordan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and commercial and industrial sectors agreed to discuss means to reduce the prices of the vegetable oil and submit proposals to the ministry in this regard.
Ali indicated that market control process is continuing to monitor prices to detect any changes in prices and take the necessary measures, and in the event that price saw exaggerations and unjustified rises, the ministry will set price ceilings.
The Minister of Industry affirmed that the prices of most commodities are stable in the civilian and military consumer corporations, including the vegetable oil.
