The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), on Thursday, foiled an attempt to smuggle 600,000 narcotic pills hidden inside a load of industrial raw materials, and arrested seven people involved in the case.
Spokesperson of the Public Security Department said the AND personnel received a tip-off that a group of people were preparing a large amount of narcotic pills to smuggle them into a neighboring country through a freight vehicle.
Investigations, he added, identified the vehicle and the time of the incident, and intercepted it near a crossing border. After conducting a search, officers found the illegal substances hidden inside fertilizer bags.
The seven suspects involved in the case were arrested and transferred to the Attorney General of the State Security Court.
