Anonymous 'Covid bandit' leaves restaurant staff 'speechless' as he tips £4,800
An anonymous 'Covid bandit' left struggling staff at steakhouse Guard and Grace in tears by his very kind gesture, after a tough few months.
In a year that has excelled at being devoid of good memories, a man only known as the 'Covid bandit' has managed to sprinkle a little magic.
The delighted recipients were staff members who work at Guard and Grace, a steakhouse in Denver, US.
On February 20, an anonymous man visited the restaurant and left a $6,800 (£4,800) cash tip that was divided among the restaurant’s 34 employees, Kiro7 reported.
As anyone who has worked in bars and restaurants will attest, it is a tough gig that only got tougher when coronavirus hit.
Restaurants globally were forced to close their doors, and staff have been left struggling for cash.
So one kindhearted gentleman took it upon himself to make a group of people's lives a little easier and happier.
Staff member Ben Moon said he was seen chatting with the general manager before heading into one of the private dining rooms.
After the staff lined up, he handed each staff member $200 before departing, but not before he signed the credit card receipt - where he added: 'Covid sucks.'
His identity remains unknown as he booked the reservation under the name 'Covid Bandit.'
Chef Troy Guard thanked the kindhearted man in a post on Facebook and shared a photo of the receipt.
He wrote: 'Who the heck is this COVID BANDIT??!!
'Whoever this person is ...thank you so much for your act of kindness and your sincere genuine caring thoughtfulness you just bestowed on our Guard and Grace staff.
'You gave out $6800 DOLLARS in total ... you gave $200 to each employee... some were crying - some are jumping up and down - some are dancing!
'I don’t know who you are Mr COVID BANDIT - but from the bottom of my heart - and our entire staff .....I’m just speechless - you strike again!'
