Minister of Water and Irrigation, Mutassim Saeedan, and Cypriot ambassador, Michalis Ioannou, on Tuesday, discussed bilateral cooperation and means to enhance it as well as key challenges in the area of water sector governance.
According to a ministry statement, Saeedan reviewed the ministry’s plan to include governorates in the water companies operating with the management and distribution of water and sanitation services, in a effort to improve the level of services, facilitate procedures for citizens, and raise the efficiency of operation and maintenance. He also spoke about the challenges facing the water sector in Jordan in light of the rapid development needs.
The minister stressed the importance of benefiting from the experiences of the two countries, especially in the fields of treated wastewater use projects for agricultural purposes, energy production from water projects, and water desalination projects.
The envoy commended the Kingdom's efforts to address the increasing water challenges, stressing the importance of signing a memorandum of bilateral cooperation during the coming period to frame the foundations of future cooperation.
