Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem renews church's allegiance to King
Patriarch Theophilos III, patriarch of the Holy City and all Jordan and Palestine, on Saturday renewed the church’s allegiance to His Majesty King Abdullah, the custodian of Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites.
The announcement came on the occasions of the 22nd death anniversary of His Majesty King Hussein and the 22nd anniversary of King Abdullah’s accession to the Throne and the centennial of the Jordanian state, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He added that the Orthodox patriarchate still remembers the achievements of the late King Hussein, who was a “source of aspiration”. “The world is a witness to King Abdullah’s unaltered supportive stances towards the Palestinian cause and his role in defending the causes of the Christians in the holy land,” Petra quoted the patriarch as saying.
