Prime minister, house speaker and senate president meet
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Senate President Faisal al-Fayez and Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Abdul Muneim Odat, on Sunday, met and discussed directives by His Majesty King Abdullah II in a recent interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) to develop legislation governing political life.
During the meeting at the Lower House of Parliament, they stressed cooperation to translate the King's vision and directives into a reality, including developing public administration, improving services, strengthening the rule of law and self-reliance.
They agreed that both the executive and the legislative authorities should open channels of communication with civil society institutions, municipalities, local communities and political parties to upgrade political legislation, including the Elections, Political Parties and Local Administration laws.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh said that the laws, when developed, are hoped to expand participation in the decision-making process and lead to real political development. He indicated that the meeting agreed on a roadmap to push for the development of such legislation as envisioned in His Majesty's directives.
