Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, has attended on Wednesday, the signing ceremony of an agreement to develop and maintain the 'Darsak' online platform between the Ministry of Education and the 'Mawdooh' website, aimed to develop distance learning services for school students.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Khasawneh praised the 'remarkable' volunteer efforts made by the 'Mawdoo' website, since the launch of the e-learning platform last March, which contributed to sustainability of the educational process in schools and development of the distance learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The agreement, signed by the Minister of Education, Tayseer Nuaimi, and the CEO of 'Mawdooq' website, Rami Qawasmi, attended by the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Hananda, would harnesses efforts of Mawdoo’s cadres free of charge in the development, modernization and maintenance services of the 'Darsak' platform, for a 1-year period, to ensure sustainability of the platform's remote learning services to school students.
The 'Mawdoo' website has voluntarily provided services, including studios, production and directing teams for the platform's content since the launch of distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking during the ceremony, Nuaimi said, per the agreement, 'Mawdooq' website donates the platform (Darsak) completely to the Ministry without any financial compensation, while the website will continue to provide technical support and maintain the platform’s operations for a year.
The ministry has started the necessary official procedures to transfer ownership of the distance learning platform , and accordingly a committee was formed comprised of representatives from the ministries of finance, education and the Audi Bureau to estimate the value of the donated platform, which was estimated at approximately JD2 million, according to Nuaimi.
Lauding efforts of Mawdoo website, and its contribution to developing and updating the platform (Darsak) since its launch, which contributed to continued educational process during the Covid-19 pandemic, Nuaimi indicated that this agreement will support the Ministry's efforts in developing and sustaining distance learning services.
Nuaimi also said the agreement will support the Ministry's efforts in developing and sustaining distance learning services, adding that the step shows the depth of the participatory relationship between the government and the private sector.
The ministry is committed to raising the level of the joint partnerships and to enhance its important role in supporting the educational process, according to Nuaimi.
In turn, Rami Qawasmi, CEO of Mawdoo, said the website has worked voluntarily to serve the Kingdom's educational process during the past period, adding that, per the agreement, the website will continue to support the education ministry's efforts in developing and sustaining distance learning services.
The platform has succeeded 'remarkably' during the last period, he said, noting that the platform has garnered more than 1.6 billion views, and more than 20 million ministerial exams were administered.
