The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a group fraudulently purchase vehicles, by posting classified ads online.
In a press statement put out on Saturday, the media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said CID agents have arrested a group of scammers, who contact vehicles sellers, give them a down payment, duping them the remining cash will be installed.
The spokesperson said scammers then hold cars' ownership officially, which are sold to a third party at a lesser price, and cut contact off.
After investigating a number of those cases, all car sale fraudsters were arrested, confessed to defrauding the vehicle owners, and were referred to the judiciary, according to the spokesperson.
