State Security Court hands prison terms to 8 in terror cases
The State Security Court (SSC) has issued verdicts in terror cases against eight defendants, who had planned terror operations against public security personnel, armed forces facilities, and churches in Mafraq and Zarqa.
The court issued the verdicts, during a session held Wednesday, headed, by its presiding judge, Dr. Muwaffaq Masaed, which sentenced the defendants on 6 charges up to 15 years behind bars.
The court charged the defendants on deliberately plotting to carry out terror acts, recruiting terrorists, joining, or attempting to join terror organizations, promoting ideology of a terror group, according to the SCC trial proceedings.
The SSC issued the 'stiffest' rulings against the first defendant to 15 years in jail, while the the second, third, fourth and fifth suspects received 12 year imprisonment sentences, whereas the last two were handed over verdicts of 5 years behind bars.
Earlier, the security departments arrested the suspects in mid-2019, who per the trial proceedings, plotted to carry out terror operations in Jordan in support of the terrorist organization 'ISIS.
