Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Ali Al-Ayed, announced a number of mitigation measures and decisions taken by the government, in line with the improvement of the epidemiological situation, and the start of the national vaccination program against the coronavirus (Covid-19).
During a joint press conference with Ministers of Education, Industry, Health and Labor, held at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday evening, Al-Ayed highlighted the decisions that included the suspension of Fridays blanket lockdown, starting from this week while maintaining the night curfew currently in force, which will also be applied on Fridays.
According to Al-Ayed, the decisions also included reopening of a number of sectors and economic businesses, starting from Friday, in three stages, with specific periods of time, and depending on epidemiological indicators.
Al-Ayed pointed out that resuming school attendance during the second semester, in-class education will gradually and in rotation, starting from 7/2/2021, according to health requirements and protocols set by the Ministry of Education.
Al-Ayed pointed out that the procedures included stopping the Visit Jordan platform for those arriving in the Kingdom by air, and only bringing a PCR test with a negative result within 72 hours of the date of arrival, in addition to a PCR test upon arrival at the airport, from which children under the age of five are exempted, in addition to cancelling the home quarantine for incoming travelers who have negative tests at Jordanian airports, as infected persons who show a positive result shall commit to home isolation.
He pointed out that reopening sectors and easing procedures constantly depends mainly on the commitment of citizens and businesses to the necessary means of prevention from the pandemic.
The Minister of State for Media Affairs thanked citizens for their commitment to prevention methods during the past weeks, which contributed to the decrease in the number of infections and fatalities.
He also lauded the role of media outlets in spreading awareness and education messages for citizens about the seriousness of the pandemic and ways to prevention, and urged everyone to receive Covid-19 vaccinations, to create community immunity that contributes to limiting the spread of the pandemic and breaking the chain of infections.
