Senate President receives Latin patriarch of Jerusalem
Senate President Faisal Fayez on Wednesday called on politicians, intellectuals and clerics to enhance interreligious dialogue to address the challenges, especially amid growing talk about the so-called “deal of the century” and the ongoing Israeli Judaisation attempts in Jerusalem.
Fayez’s remarks came during a meeting with the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Fayez underlined Jordan’s ongoing efforts towards protecting Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, as part of the Hashemite Custodianship that “has always been the sole guarantee against violations and Israeli Judaisation attempts”
The Patriarch emphasized the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, expressing appreciation for Jordan’s roles in safeguarding the Holy city’s shrines and defending Jerusalem at international forums.
He also highlighted the “exceptional ties” between Palestinians and the Hashemite leadership, lauding the values of tolerance and coexistence in the Kingdom.
