Cold and cloudy weather with showers forecast today evening
Fair weather conditions are expected to prevail on Wednesday in most parts of the Kingdom, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be warm, with southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, blowing dust in the southern and eastern areas, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.
Toward night, the weather will turn to be colder nationwide, as clouds will build up at various altitudes, bringing scattered showers in the western highlands, including the city of Aqaba, the JMD added.
Rainfall is expected to be heavier accompanied by thunder and hail at times in some areas, causing flash floods in valleys and lowlands, while winds will be southeasterly moderate to brisk, blowing dust in the Badia.
The weather department also warned of poor visibility due to dust, particularly in the southern and eastern highlands, slippery roads in the areas experiencing rain as well as floods formation.
On Thursday, the Kingdom will be affected by a cold and wet air mass, accompanying a depression from Turkey, pushing temperatures down and making cold and partly cloudy conditions, along with heavy downpours, thunder storms and hail at times, mainly in the central and northern regions, causing floods in valleys and low-lying areas, the JMD predicted.
Winds will be westerly active with strong gusts reaching 40-50 kilometres per hour and blowing dust in the southern and eastern parts of the country, the JMD further said.
On Friday, cold, cloudy weather with showers are expected to persist with southwesterly moderate winds, the department forecast.
Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach 21 degrees Celsius, 17 in the northern and 18 in the southern cities, dropping down to 8, 9 and 7 degrees respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 29 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 16 at night.
