Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), Chair of the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization, New York has published a new book under the title of 'The Inevitable Digital Future: A World of Smart Cities'.

The book sheds light on mankind's digital future including building intricately connected cities and moving beyond technology and ensuring that our values are reflected in this new digital ecosystem so that we are not overwhelmed or controlled by it.
In addition, the book highlights the importance of dealing with technology as a tool, just as the axe was a tool in the hands of cave dwellers as it needs to become a part of our existential reality which we need to embrace, albeit with thought, caution and wisdom.
The book also emphasized on the idea that the truly transformative power of technology will be realized when we start to transcend it as humans must realize that those things that can not be automated or digitalized will be extremely valuable in the future. The book indicates that qualities such as innovation, creativity, ethics and being human will allow us to achieve such transcendence and secure our place as humans in this digital future.
The book mainly draws on paving a course through technology to show which ones are now mature enough to help power our future cities. It is worth mentioning that the book provides recommendations to those who are interested to build their capacities in these technology areas that are forming the bases of Smart Cities globally.
Finally, the book deeply discusses the lessons that can be learnt from failed Smart City initiatives as well as provides a blueprint that can be used to develop holistic Smart Cities of the future.
The book presents deep and thoroughly discussion and analysis and it could be viewed as a guide that for decision makers may benefit from at various levels in terms of difficulties and challenges with regards to future technology and Smart Cities.
