Petra makes National Geographic Traveler's 2021 cover story
The ancient city of Petra has made the cover story of The National Geographic Traveler (Italy), and appeared on its 2021 edition.
In a competition with other world travel destinations, the Italian-based international magazine's editors picked Petra to appear on its 2021 issue, according to its press statement.
Featuring Petra's prominent archaeological attractions, the magazine devoted a 95- page documentary on its volume, dubbed: 'A True Journey through the History of this Magical and Extraordinary Site,' the statement added.
Director General of the Tourism Promotion Commission (TPC), Abdul Razzaq Arabiat, said the magazine’s announcement is evidence that the ancient city tops the foreign tourist's travel list, as many tourists are waiting the borders to reopen to visit the Kingdom.
Arabiat stressed the importance of this announcement by an international magazine, which 'encourages readers to visit Jordan, and get acquainted closely with a world wonder.'
This move is a recognition of the importance of the ancient city, which the Lonely Planet global site has finally placed as the most beautiful site in the world among 500 other destinations, according to Arabiat.
