Egyptian Director Youssef Noman's short film 'Hathehi Lailaty' (This Is My Night) won the best film, best directing and best actress awards at the 21st edition of the Jordan International Film Festival which concluded in Amman.

The film tells the story of a poor woman (played by Nahid El Sebaei who won the best actress award) who takes her child with Down syndrome to one of Cairo's affluent areas, and faces unexpected suffering. Although the mother faces many challenges, she insists on seizing moments of happiness for her child.

Jordanian film 'Ya Jar' (Oh Neighbor), directed by Ishaq Elias, won the award for best screenplay by the late Rafqi Assaf, and the best directing award alongside 'Hathehi Lailaty' by Youssef Noman.

The best actor award went equally for Jihad Al-Andari for 'Lahza' (A Moment) film from Lebanon, and Uday Chandra from India for his 'Hunger' film.

The head of the festival jury, Adnan Madanat, said in a speech during the ceremony that the participation of four films produced by the Ministry of Culture reflects an official interest in developing the film industry in Jordan, calling on national institutions to support young filmmakers so that they can express the local culture through cinema.

This year's edition of the festival saw films from Norway, Denmark, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Argentina, Malaysia, India, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait and Lebanon, in addition to 4 films from Jordan.
