The Ministry of Health announced 31 Covid-19 fatalities and 2,221 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 3,496 and the caseload to 269,806.

The new infections comprised of 712 cases in the capital, Amman, 572 in Irbid, including 86 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 166 in Mafraq, 149 in Balqa, 147 in Zarqa, 92 in Jerash, 92 in Ajloun, 91 in Madaba, 72 in Karak, 59 in Aqaba, 48 in Tafila, and 21 in Ma'an, including 5 in southern district of Petra, according to the press statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The statement indicated that Jordan's currently active cases stand at 32,920, while the number of patients who have been admitted on Thursday to hospitals has stood at 137, as 123 cases were discharged.

The total number of confirmed cases receiving treatment in hospitals has hit 1,136, while the total number of isolation beds used in healthcare facilities for confirmed and susceptible cases on Wednesday have reached 946, with an occupancy rate of 22%, according to the joint statement.

Meanwhile, the total number of ICU beds used in hospitals for confirmed and susceptible cases on Wednesday has reached 321, with an occupancy rate of 34%, the government added.

The total number of lung ventilators used in hospitals for confirmed and susceptible cases on Wednesday have reached 156, with an occupancy rate of 18%, the statement pointed out.

The statement indicated that 3,116 patients have recovered on Thursday in home isolation and hospitals, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 233,390.
Moreover, 21,176 lab Covid-19 tests were conducted today, bringing the cumulative number of tests administered since the beginning of the pandemic until now to 2915,266, with the share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, standing at 10.49 per cent, the statement added.

The Ministry of Health has renewed its call on the public to abide by defence orders, as well as to adhere to precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks and avoiding holding gatherings that exceed 20 people, according to the statement.

The ministry also called on the public to follow its 'I Protect Them' awareness campaign, which aims to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through increasing public commitment to preventive measures to protect individuals and their beloved ones.
