Minister of Justice, acting Interior Minister, Bassam Talhouni said Tuesday that investment security is a key priority for the government and that it is serious about the growth and protection of foreign capital.
He said as he chaired a meeting of the Irbid Governorate's Security Council that His Majesty King Abdullah attached great importance to the investment sector and creating an investor-friendly climate, which will largely contribute to economic growth.
The Minister hailed the level of coordination between administrative governors and security bodies, noting that the most important tasks of the council, which includes top security experts, is to deal with criminal cases as well as help governors in decision-making.
He reiterated that firing and possessing unlicensed arms is 'a phenomenon inconsistent with the rule of law,' adding that the indiscriminate shooting that was recently witnessed in the country was widely condemned by citizens.
Talhouni said that everyone should refer to the rule of law 'without favoritism or discrimination,' which will help reduce crime and 'eliminate criminal behaviours that need a societal effort involving official and grassroots institutions.'
He stressed the role of administrative governors in enhancing the development process and supporting productive and service projects 'according to the features and advantages of each region.'
