Authorities probe fire that killed special education student
Authorities are investigating a fire that killed a student and injured 5 others, including two supervisors, in a special education center in Amman early Thursday.
Minister of Social Development Ayman al-Mufleh ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the circumstances of the fire which engulfed a large part of the center, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that other students have been moved to other centers.
The Civil Defense Directorate said its preliminary assessment indicates that the fire was caused by a short circuit in a central heating unit, adding that the families of the deceased and the injured, some of them are from different Arab nationalities, had already been informed.
