Eighty-six deaths from the coronavirus were recorded along with 4,750 cases in the Kingdom Saturday, bringing the death toll since the outbreak to 1,704, and the caseload to 141,305, the Ministry of Health said.
According to the daily media brief by the ministry and the Prime Ministry, the new cases were as follows: 2,102 in Amman, 1,133 in Irbid, including 33 in Ramtha district, 348 in Zarqa, 237 in Ajloun, 220 in Tafileh, 174 in Mafraq, 167 Balqa, 139 in Jerash, 129 in Karak, 40 in Ma'an, including 24 in Petra, 32 in Aqaba and 29 in Madaba.
It said that 233 COVID-19 cases were admitted to hospitals and 150 were discharged after recovery, adding that the total number of cases that are currently receiving treatment in hospitals reached 2,113, including 455 in intensive care.
It also said that 16,502 swab tests were taken, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 2,174,443, adding that the percentage of positive tests today was nearly 28.8%.
The ministry urged the public amid the surge in local infections to adhere to defense orders and follow safety and prevention standards, mainly wearing masks, avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, and using the 'Aman' and 'Your Health' apps.
