The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that the Higher Education Council (HEC) has agreed to grant the Saudi Jordanian Investment Fund (SJIF) an initial license to establish a private medical university, in accordance with the provisions of the Jordanian Private Universities Licensing Bylaw No. (70), 2020 and the instructions in force.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said the HEC requested the SJIF to complete steps to obtain the final license to fulfill the conditions and requirements, as per the instructions in place, to carry out the project on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.
The HEC said its approval came after studying all the documents sent with the SJIF's request by its permanent committees, said the ministry.
With an investment up to $400 million, the project consists of a medical university, an academic hospital with a 300-bed capacity, 60 outpatient clinics, and a hostel, according to the ministry's statement.
